CAVS Armoured Vehicle Program: A Milestone Reached
Agreement Signed, Paving the Way for Vehicle Production
Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany Join Forces for Advanced Defense
In a significant development, the technical agreement for the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) was officially signed on April 17, 2023. This agreement marks a major milestone in the development of a new generation of armored vehicles that will enhance the defense capabilities of participating countries.
The CAVS program, originally established by Finland and Latvia, has since expanded to include Sweden and Germany. This collaboration combines the expertise and resources of these nations to develop a state-of-the-art vehicle that meets the evolving demands of modern warfare.
The CAVS vehicle will replace the TPz Fuchs and the M113, providing participating countries with a more advanced and capable platform for troop transport and other combat support roles. The vehicle's design is based on the Patria 6x6, a proven and reliable vehicle platform currently in service with several armed forces around the world.
